Getting from Seatac Airport to the Seattle Center area will most likely require a taxi (approx. $35) or shuttle bus (approx. $40). (Our light rail should be in place for 2009.) There is public transportation (approx. $2), but it is much more time consuming. Here is a map to help.
Once you are in Seattle proper, transportation should be relatively easy. The bus system is fairly comprehensive. There is a "Ride Free Zone" within downtown Seattle (The Seattle Center is a bit north of "downtown", and a bit outside the zone - but within walking distance of the zone). Also, there is the famous Monorail, which will get you from the Center to Downtown and back ($4 round trip, $2 one way).
Travel tips and information about Seattle.
We have set the schedule for vehicle entry onto the Center grounds:
Thursday
7:30am - 11:30am
5pm - 9pm
Friday
8am - Noon
Sunday
5pm - Midnight

When you stop at the gate, just let the guard know you are with BrickCon and you will be passed through. At the loading dock there will be someone to assist you with your vehicle placement and help you unload.
If your items are small, please do not use the gate entry. Use the Mercer Street loading zone just in front of the Exhibition Hall, instead.
Any times not listed above, people must carry their stuff on/off the grounds. We will provide hand trucks and carts (and people) to help.

Technically, no. However, if your MOC is larger than 32 studs in any dimension, your Theme Coordinator will want to know so s/he can provide enough space for your creation.
We do have tremendously more space available this year than last, but we need to know your requirements - table/floor space, power, lighting, etc.
If you are under the age of 18, you and your parent/guardian must both register and s/he must be with you during the Convention hours in order for you to attend.
Technically, no. You could register at the door. However, we do need to have enough time to make personalized items for the Attendees. For this, our cut-off date is September 15.
The "Name" and "Organization" bricks of your badge are just what we call these bricks. Your use of them is totally in your hands. You may put anything on your bricks you wish - using up to 22 characters on each brick. You may also leave them blank, but hey, opportunity only knocks once.
There will indeed be vendors selling LEGO® related stuff: T-shirts, individual parts and sets, including many older, discontinued and custom items. There is no way to know ahead of time what will be available. Please come Saturday and Sunday to find out!
BrickCon policy is that for single-table vendors, we require full Convention Registration plus a Brick Bazaar Table Rental.
Our Registration fee is $50.
The vendor table fee is $100.
We provide an 8 foot table w/tablecloth, set within an 8' x 6-1/2' space. Brick Bazaar vendors must report and pay taxes directly to the City of Seattle and State of Washington. The Brick Bazaar is always open (at vendors' discretion) and is expected to be open during public hours (Saturday, Oct 3 and Sunday, Oct 4 from 11am to 3pm).
We have a limited number of tables, so please reserve yours early.
Our Convention is at two levels. The primary level is for Adult LEGO® Hobbyists who come together to share friendship, ideas, and activities with fellow hobbyists and to display their amazing creations. The second level is for people of all ages and interest levels to come view our amazing creations and, hopefully, be inspired to build themselves - and perhaps join the LEGO® hobbyists at a future Convention.
If you are of the first type - an adult who enjoys the hobby of working with LEGO® elements - then you should Register and plan to join us for 3 15-hour days of fun and friendship. If you are unsure about this level of intensity, you should visit (with paid admission) on Saturday and/or Sunday and see the amazing things made with LEGO® elements and meet the awesome people who build them!
If you would like your MOC Cards printed, you must have them entered before Monday, September 28. We will print (entered) MOC Cards before the Convention begins and have blank cards available beginning Thursday as Creations are brought in.
If you want your MOC considered for any award, you must have a MOC Card.
Yes! Throughout the Convention there will be T-Shirts and LEGO® parts, sets and related items for sale at our Brick Bazaar. The Bazaar will be open to the public during Public hours (11am - 3pm Saturday and Sunday).
Our eighth annual BrickCon will be held from October 1st to 4th, 2009.
We are located at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall, which is on Mercer Street just across from the Parking Garage.
We will be open to the public from 11:00am to 3:00pm Saturday, Oct. 3rd, and Sunday, Oct. 4th.
The admission price is $7 per Individual, $20 per Family. Tickets can be purchased at the Exhibition Hall ticket booth beginning at 10:30am on Saturday and Sunday.
A registered participant (attendee) is allowed to attend all three days of the Convention (8am to 11pm; Friday, Saturday and Sunday), plus Thursday Move-In (8am to 10pm). Activities include presentations, seminars, roundtable discussions, contests, games, door prizes and many experiences unique to a LEGO® Fan Convention. The full attendee receives a Convention Packet contaning a personalized brick name badge, a program of activities, some exclusive hand outs, coupons and other fun stuff. The fee is $50.
"Open to the public" means we invite everyone to view our exhibition of hundreds of hobbyist-built LEGO® models involving hundreds of thousands of LEGO® pieces. Also, there will be a building zone, a Brick Bazaar (where LEGO® stuff may be purchased), door prizes, and other give-aways. The public times are Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm. For this, there is a modest fee of $7 per person (children under 4 are free), families $20.
This year's BrickCon Draft set is not yet chosen. If you have a suggestion, please use the 'Contact Us' form and let us know what you'd like to draft.
BrickCon is a Convention for Adult LEGO® Hobbyists (ALH). It is made up of two parts: Convention and Exhibition.
The Convention provides a place for ALHs to get together, meet other hobbyists, some of whom have been only names before being met at the Con, share their friendship, experiences and show off their fantastic creations.
There are many smaller events within the Convention including contests, games, round-table discussions, seminars and presentations.
The Exhibition invites LEGO® fans of all ages to view hundreds of incredible hobbyist-built creations and meet, and hopefully be inspired by, their creators.

No. The MOC cards are to inform the viewer about your MOC. If you fill out your MOC Card in advance, we'll print it and have it ready for you when you come in. There will be blank cards at the Con to fill in by hand.
It is important to be aware that if you would like your MOC to be considered for an award, at any level, a MOC Card is a requirement.
Every precaution will be made to preserve the security of your creations. At all times throughout the Convention there will be several persons present. No one will be allowed inside without permission.
During the Public Exhibition, we will have special volunteer staff to monitor the exhibits and assist guests with questions.
Although we do permit people under the age of 18 to attend the full Convention as long as a parent (or adult guardian) also attends, we strongly discourage people under the age of 14 from attending. Most of the activities we schedule are directed toward adults and usually require attention spans longer than most younger children exhibit. It is common for the adults who attend to have conversations which might be deemed inappropriate for younger listeners.
If you do choose to bring your son or daughter to the full Convention, we must remind you that you are responsible for their behavior at all times during the Convention. It is possible that your son or daughter (or anyone) may be asked to leave if their behavior becomes inappropriate or too disruptive.
Generally, No.
An exception would be for someone helping you bring your MOCs in on Thursday, all day, or Friday morning. Your assistant is welcome to stay Thursday, but not Friday.
If you also need help removing your MOCs Sunday evening, your assistant is welcome after 5pm.
During all times other than Public Hours (11am - 3pm Sat/Sun) only paid registrants are allowed within the Convention. There are single-day registrations available for $25, which must be purchased at the door before 10am.
Theoretically no! But you should be in communication with the various Theme Coordinators to make sure they are ready for your MOCs.
All of the activities scheduled for the full Convention Attendee are intended for adults. Younger people can certainly enjoy most of them, but children (younger than 14) would probably not.
All of the activities scheduled for the Public Exhibition are intended and suitable for all ages.
For the full Convention, we have Wacky Races, Speed Build and Master Build contests (several varieties), Dirty Brickster, Draft, and more.
For the Public Exhibition, we have free Door Prize raffle drawings. There may be un-announced contests that the public will be welcome to participate. Visit the Exhibition (Sat, Oct 3rd, and Sun, Oct 4th) for details.
One of our fan-favorite public activities is the large Building Zone where children of all ages can play and build with hundreds of LEGO® elements. Once built, these masterpieces can be displayed for all to see on our Building Zone display tables.
Private Convention Details:
Wacky Races involve building something that, powered only by gravity, will be rolled down a ramp to test survivability and travel distance.
Speed build is a race to build the same item from the same parts in the shortest amount of time.
Master Build is a judged contest to see how well a builder can represent a given theme where all participants build from the same set of parts in a set amount of time.
Dirty Brickster is a prize exchange game (white elephant type - open or steal!)
Draft is an event where everyone brings one copy of the same (unopened) set. We open the sets, sort the parts into piles and take turns Drafting piles of parts.
There are also impromptu games, competitions and other activities. Join in or start your own!
Yes, after completing the Registration process, mark the box "paying by check", and send your check or money order, made out to "BrickCon LLC", and a copy of your invoice to:
BrickCon LLC
2609 S. 353rd St.
Federal Way WA 98003
As a Public Guest, we cannot allow you to bring and display your creations due to logistical and insurance reasons. However, anything created by you in our Build Zone will have a dedicated place for its display.
